Bluehaus Group designed the Daman Health collaborative and executive floors, Abu Dhabi. This comprised the VIP and Happiness levels, including the Customer Happiness Center on the ground level. The fit-outs were executed by KPS and lighting was supplied by Acoulite
The purpose of the space was to enforce the Daman corporate culture and the essence of what the company stands for – wellbeing of clients and staff and a healthy lifestyle. This facility was envisioned as a place to connect, get active, share, gain knowledge and unwind.
Level 18 is the top floor in the building with interior floor space and a large external terrace. The brief considered splitting the floor to adopt top-management quarters, inclusive of reception, large executive boardroom and Majlis on one side; and the recreational floor with a blend of different facilities such as climbing wall, gym, game area and library on the other.
This area also includes a large auditorium with retractable seating for dual use such as a Yoga or Zumba hall. The outdoor terrace connects both executive and public areas, so the design has been done with contemporary elegance to complement both sides of the floor. Thus, the overall ambience achieved characterises smooth flow, soft shadows, intricate lighting and raw natural materials.
One of the key design drivers in the multifunctional and recreational area was the implementation of biophilia. High ceilings and building envelope made of full-height glazing allow for plenty of daylight to penetrate every corner of the space. Moss greenery was used to complement large curved feature walls inspired by sand dune patterns and oasis. The selection of furniture echoes pebble forms found in nature with colours that simulate natural stone finish.
Bringing nature in was not only achieved through the clever use of colours, shapes and materials but was also evoked through the flock of birds suspended from the ceiling around the “tree of life”, which together creates a main focal point in the reception. The zones have been laid-out according to function where the loud areas surround the reception, while the feature wall with integrated greenery leads visitors towards the quiet zone with the library.
