Hired to provide modern lighting solutions for a private office on the 139th floor of the Burj Khalifa, Acoulite aimed to provide a lighting solution that would reflect the modern style and sleek design of this world class, iconic building. By using a combination of lighting techniques and products, we created an assortment of lighting designs in order to differentiate the areas of the office.
This was a particularly complex project due to the materials we were working with and the mixed texture combinations. It was necessary to supply samples for the circulation space to ensure the different mediums worked together. The lights were built into the leather wall and crossed over into the ceiling, and it was vital to coordinate with all designers to ensure the correct installation. Acoulite was commissioned to provide custom-made glass pendants supplied by Lasvit (http://lasvit.com). These molten lava-like pendants were suspended through a black stretch membrane, which weaved through a special lit feature in the ceiling of the reception.
Additional lighting was required for the terrace of the office, which was to be used for events and parties. Low-level bollards, lit object and linear LED lights were used to create a contemporary feel. Due to the status of the Burj Khalifa, all lighting designs had to be submitted to the General Management to make sure it did not interfere with the overall look of the tower.
Plus, all recess depths had to be kept to a minimum due to the existing base build conditions.
Due to the technical nature of the project, Acoulite made sure to include a detailed design package. This provided information about how to maintain the lighting features, full specification details, lighting performance evaluations, thereby ensuring that the lighting integration was technically successful.
Much to the delight of the client, the concept and final design were identical, perfectly matching the brief to create a modern space to entertain clients.
