Based on the interior design concept formulated for the company’s Montreal headquarters, FOR adapted the artistic approach to the different cities where the company has a presence, adapting standards for furniture, lighting, finishes and materials based on local distributors and each site’s particular characteristics. More than 130,000 sq. ft. of office space worldwide has been designed with this concept: Paris, Singapore, Secaucus, London, Bruges, Quebec City, Sherbrooke and now Dubai.
FOR had a very specific vision that Acoulite had to adhere to, ensuring that the lighting solutions aligned perfectly with the new workplace's overall aesthetic and functional requirements. This vision was crucial in maintaining a cohesive and contemporary design that reflected Genetec's international brand identity while fostering a transparent and engaging business environment.
Challenges
Specialised Rooms: The Experience Centre required colour-changing LED lighting and a room for coordinating controls to meet client requirements for different scenes and colour changes.
Integrated Systems: The boardroom and corridor lighting needed to be seamlessly integrated with the ceiling tiles and grid systems. This necessitated precise coordination and accuracy in the shop drawings.
Lux Levels: The client had specific lux level requirements that matched the lighting used in their offices worldwide. Ensuring these standards were met was crucial.
Aesthetic Demands: The client required a clean, continuous lighting system rather than standalone fixtures. This involved integrating all fittings into a single-track system.
Accuracy in Drawings: The accuracy of the shop drawings was important. Any deviation could result in fittings being too long or too short, which would be aesthetically unappealing and potentially rejected.
Solutions
Advanced Lighting Control Systems: To meet the Experience Centre's requirements, sophisticated lighting control systems were installed. These systems allowed for the creation of various lighting scenes and colour changes, ensuring the space could adapt to different client needs and scenarios.
Integrated Track Lighting: The boardroom and corridors were lit with a continuous track lighting system. This approach ensured a cohesive and clean aesthetic, avoiding the clutter of standalone fixtures. The track lighting system was carefully integrated into the ceiling tiles and grid systems, maintaining a seamless look throughout the space.
Precise Coordination and Shop Drawings: Detailed and accurate shop drawings were crucial for integrating the lighting systems with the ceiling structures. Acoulite collaborated closely with Samadhin and Associates to ensure all fittings were precisely measured and installed, avoiding any potential deviations that could impact the project's aesthetic appeal.
Lux Level Compliance: Adhering to the specific lux level requirements was essential for maintaining consistency with Genetec's global offices. The lighting design was meticulously planned to meet these standards, ensuring optimal illumination levels for various tasks and enhancing the overall work environment.
Continuous Communication and Collaboration: Acoulite maintained constant communication with CBRE and the design team based in Canada throughout the project. This collaboration ensured that all aesthetic and functional requirements were clearly understood and met, resulting in a lighting design that perfectly aligned with Genetec's brand identity and the overall design vision.
Outcome
The One Central project successfully demonstrated Acoulite's ability to deliver high-quality, integrated lighting solutions. The Experience Centre's dynamic lighting capabilities provided a versatile space for various training and presentation scenarios. The boardroom and corridor lighting systems were seamlessly integrated, creating a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment. The precise coordination and accurate shop drawings ensured all fittings were installed flawlessly, meeting the client's specifications and high standards.
Acoulite’s involvement in the One Central project in Dubai highlights their expertise in handling complex lighting designs and their commitment to delivering superior results that align with client expectations.
