Overview
The design concept, Rawasheen: A Nomadic Destination, is inspired by Hijazi architecture, particularly the intricate wooden lattices found in rawasheen windows. Acoulite’s lighting solutions were carefully selected to complement the space, ensuring a balance of efficiency, comfort, and cultural context.
Working alongside Studio N, Acoulite supplied varied lighting solutions across different zones of the office.
Meeting Rooms
The meeting room design seamlessly blends contemporary functionality with cultural heritage.
The ceiling detail is a standout feature, inspired by traditional rawasheen patterns, adding depth and texture while reinforcing the Saudi architectural influence. A custom-designed suspended light fixture serves as both a focal point and a functional element, providing balanced illumination across the conference table.
The integrated cove lighting along the ceiling perimeter subtly enhances the wooden latticework, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The wall paneling maintains a clean, minimalist aesthetic, ensuring the space feels open and uncluttered, while strategic natural light and indoor greenery add a refreshing, biophilic touch.
Openwork space
The open workspace is designed to be functional, comfortable, and visually cohesive.
Architectural arches, influenced by rawasheen forms, create a structured yet fluid layout. Indirect lighting enhances these features, adding depth and dimension to the space.
Overhead, linear pendant lights provide consistent lighting, reducing glare and supporting visual comfort for employees. The corridor design, with its curved carpet transitions and soft lighting, ensures a smooth and natural flow through the office.
Conclusion
The lighting design in the NRF office was developed to enhance both form and function.
By integrating cultural references with modern lighting solutions, the office achieves a cohesive and functional design, reinforcing NRF’s presence in a workspace that is both contemporary and contextually relevant.
